The Hartford County incident occurred on Sunday, Feb. 12 around 12:15 p.m. in South Windsor.

According to said Sgt. Mark Cleverdon of the South Windsor Police. Middlesex County resident Annellie M. Reed, of East Hampton, was spotted by an officer driving northbound in the southbound lanes of Route 5.

The officer was able to safely stop the vehicle at the intersection of Route 5 and Ellington Road, Cleverdon said.

During the investigation, it was believed Reed was under the influence of alcohol. Reed consented to the standardized field sobriety tests, which she failed, he added.

She was taken into custody and charged with operating under the influence and driving the wrong way on a divided highway. She was released on a $1,000 non-surety bond.

Reed is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, Feb. 27.
